I just got back from attending WPPI 2014 in sunny and fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada. WPPI is an international wedding & portrait photographer conference and EXPO. Thousands of photographers come to do workshops, learn from inspirational & educational classes, see the latest and greatest in gear, print labs, software & more. It’s also an amazing time to hang out with photographers from all over the world and reconnect with friends from all over the U.S. I went with Amy Karp, Teresa Gardner, & Amber Knauss and had the lovely Jaime Williams join us for lots of fun throughout the conference.
This year I went to classes by Tamara Lackey and Susan Stripling and learned from Mike Colon, Zach Gray & Trevor Dayley at the 2014 Thirst Relief Benefit Shoot. (You’ll be hearing more from me about Thirst Relief in the future, but for now, check out their site and see what they’re all about). The Thirst Relief Benefit Shoot was a wonderful time! I love seeing how other photographers approach the same situation and learning from what they see and how they work with a client or model. We had some great models to photograph in downtown Las Vegas on Freemont Street. We also met the amazing and fun creators of BlogStomp (the software I use to create all of my blog posts) at the Benefit Shoot. After the shoot, we enjoyed a dinner and concert by David Ramirez atop a rooftop bar. It was great chatting with new photographers and reconnecting with great friends!
One of the most fun things about WPPI is the parties. So many generous sponsors host fun and fabulous parties! This year the party to be at was the Silver Rush 2014 Party hosted by Indie Film Lab, Cine Still Film, Kodak Alaris, Richard Photo Lab, Insta Proofs, The Knot, Fufi Film Instax, Mastin Labs, & Photo Focus. Let’s just say we shut down the party at about 3:45 a.m. and I danced all night with my friends and it was fabulous!
