Janelle & Shaver were married at the Southwestern Yacht Club in Point Loma. They bonded over many things, but their love of sailing was one of them. As members of the yacht club, it was a meaningful location for their wedding ceremony. They were thrilled to share one of their favorite places with their friends and family for their wedding ceremony.
Janelle took such great care in planning so many little meaningful details. I loved how she wanted to re-create some of her grandparent’s wedding photos, how she made gifts for everyone involved in the wedding (including me and her other vendors), how they incorporated their dogs into the ceremony (even though it was chaotic, humor prevailed in the moment), Janelle’s dance with the five men who have played invaluable roles’ in her life, and how their last song was “I’m on a Boat” by Lonely Island. Their ceremony was full of meaningful details about what they loved about one another and their party was one great party!
Their ceremony facing the boat slips was gorgeous and a photographer’s paradise. We photographed their portraits on a nearby neighborhood beach and along the docks and my heart was so happy to have so many beautiful locations for their wedding portraits.
It was a joy to document their wedding day and to have their wedding celebration be my first wedding in San Diego. After photographing weddings for 10 years, it’s been a risk to move me and my wedding photography business to Southern California. I’m hopeful their wedding is the start of something beautiful in my history as a witness to life & beauty in San Diego.
